Intel does a pre-emptive strike on the 2 - and 3-nuclear Phenom II

Many probably still remember, as Intel has responded to the latest exit Phenom II processors from AMD. Cnachala processor giant brought to market so-called energy-efficient processors Core 2 Quad Yorkfield with TDP 65 W, and then he lowered the prices of a number of 2 - and 4-nuclear processors, and now, as it became known, Intel intends to submit to the court users to the most powerful 2 Nuclear-processor with a clock speed of the nominal 3.5 GHz - E8700.

This chip is very much like Xeon X5270 and also made for 45nm-built. It supports FSB 1333, has 6 MB of L2 cache and 65 W TDP.

So far, Intel has not yet been determined with the price for this model. The point is that the processor giant is planning to E8700 after lowering the price of E8600 3,3 GHz to 183 dollars. Thus, the entire line of 2-Nuclear Core 2 Duo processor will be not only more powerful but also more attractive in the eyes of users. These models will have to confront a new generation of 2 - and 3-nuclear Phenom II from AMD.
