Latitude XT2 nearly ready

When Dell introduced the Latitude XT in the year before last, the model has led to this boom, not only among users and professionals. The point is that this is the first Tablet PC, which has a touch screen type MultiTouch. But nearly two years, and as it turned out, Dell is ready to bring to market two models in this series.

According to Electronista, an American company unveiled yesterday the preliminary technical data on the Latitude XT2. Thus, there is every reason to believe that the output of this from the Dell case is almost a solution, and we will soon see it on sale.

Unlike previous models, Latitude XT, XT2 has an integrated graphics Intel GMA X4500, and not ATI. In addition, this uses a hard drive with compact form factor 1.8-inch. In fact, it only supports cards ExpressCards 34 mm, 54 mm and not as before. With regard to memory, the Latitude XT2 support up to 5 GB, not 3 as is the case with the previous model. At this point, it seems that the differences between them ends. Like the XT, XT2 is based on low-voltage processor Ultra Low Voltage Core 2 Duo, (the truth, in this case refers only to Penryn, but not Merom!) And also has a 12.1-inch display with LED backlight and 1280 × 800.

It should be noted that the Latitude XT2 much lighter than its predecessor: the weight of this model is only 1 kg (635 g less weight XT). In addition, one of the three USB ports can be used in PowerShare, to charge the external device, even if the computer is turned off. In fact, it is an analog technology Sleep n'Charge, which is already in use in most of the latest generation of mobile systems from Toshiba.

Not yet known how much it will cost the Latitude XT2, but the price of the first model in the series was about 2500 U.S. dollars.
