New versions of Phenom II is not far off



Despite the fact that the first Phenom II processors were presented most recently, AMD has plans to bring to market a more powerful version in the near future, says Tech Power Up.

If nothing changes, we will soon see the latest version of the series - Phenom II X4 950. This chip has a nominal clock frequency 3.1 GHz and has 8 MB of cache (6 MB L3 cache and 512 KB L2 cache per core). It will support DDR3 1333 memory and HyperTransport bus 4 Hz, and the TDP will be about 125 Watts.

It is not clear when the official presentation of Phenom II X4 950, but it will happen fairly soon. By that time, we'll see another chip in the series - Phenom II X4 945. According to the latest data, it is a modified version of Phenom II X4 940, which supports Socket AM3. By the way, all the processors from the line (with Socket AM3) will have a TDP of 95 to 125 W, and the maximum would not exceed 2.8 GHz. They will be back compatible with the motherboard with Socket AM2 + memory and DDR2.
