The futures of Athon

If anything extraordinary will happen in the near future, AMD returns to the market the first 4-processor based on the nuclear core Propus. Their official name - Athlon X4. All models in this series are categorized as budget processor, and in contrast to Deneb and Heka, they do not have the cache L3. Moreover, the size of their L2 cache is only 2 MB, or 512 KB per core.

As far as we know, the older model of this series is Athlon X4 615 2.7 GHz Athlon X4 605 2.5 GHz. These chips have a TDP 95 W, and as expected, they should see the light in April. Nevertheless, evil speaker claimed that AMD was allegedly transferring their production to III the most interesting: on the processors that are capable Propus? Thus, the results of preliminary tests conducted by PC Online, show that Propus not powerful Phenom X4 9750. In multi testing CineBench test platform based on the Athlon X4 2,8 GHz scored 8738 total points, which is much smaller than the platform-based Phenom X4 9750 (9500 points).

Perhaps, in this case it was exactly on the Athlon X4 615 2.7 GHz, but with a slightly raised the clock frequency, as tested processor runs at 2.8 GHz. It is also worth noting that the test platform is based on the 790FX motherboard and memory DDR2.
