CES'09: Phenom II again was at an altitude

The newest processor Phenom II X4 940 of AMD once again shown himself to a better hand at CES'09, said the Hong Kong portal Tech Power Up. This time a group of Finnish over clockers, the so-called Team Finland, managed to disperse it to 6.2 GHz. However, in doing so, they used liquid helium to cool the processor, so they were able to lower the temperature on the surface of the chip to -272 degrees Celsius.

It should be noted that such attempts to raise the clock speed Phenom II to 6 GHz failed. But the Finns more fortunate: they have managed not only to disperse the new baby to 6.2 GHz AMD, but also forced him to work steadily on this frequency.

Configuration test platform is as follows: engineering sample Phenom II X4, motherboard DFI LAN Party Dark 790FXB-M2RS, Memory OCZ DDR2-1066, the two graphics card Radeon HD 4870 X2, set in the configuration of CrossFire. To achieve the 6.2 GHz frequency, Finns raised voltage processors up to 1.84 in and set the frequency of the system bus and the multiplier at 280 MHz and 22.5 respectively. It is also worth noting that the HyperTransport bus multiplier was put at 8, while the frequency of the nucleus and the graphic video was increased to 800 and 950 MHz. The result of more than surprising: the testing 3DMark 05 test platform scored 45,474 points.
