In fact, many know that the format of the contemporary displays, including from the LCD panels, there are 16:9 and 16:10, but when it comes to TVs, the main format, here is a first. They say that such displays are ideal for viewing videos and movies in the resolution of HD. However, thanks to Philips, we know that there is a new format of 21:9, which supposedly will relieve LCD TVs from the perennial problem of Letterbox.

To the surprise of many, Philips yesterday officially introduced its first LCD TV in a series of Cinema 21:9 LCD TV. This model has a screen with a 21:9 ratio, and is the world's first HD TV with this format. According to the famous Dutch company, with a traditional TV format, 16:9, in one way or another, distorted the picture, and audiences often see black bars at the top and bottom of the screen when viewing some, especially older films. This effect is referred to as letterbox (mailbox), and for many years, experts are struggling with it by changing the format of the screen. Will the Philips solve this problem with its new format screen 21:9, yet difficult to say, but some skeptics have suggested that now appear on the screen vertical stripes instead of horizontal. Nevertheless, Philips argues that when watching movies at the Cinema 21:9 LCD TV audience will feel as if he is in a great hall of the theater, as well as films in Panavision 70 mm films are exactly the same format.

Among the main design features a new large TV from Philips are the technology of Ambilight Spectra, which provides treacherousness back. On the technical characteristics of new items yet, little is known, but the TV and has a sufficiently large screen size of 56 inches diagonally. It promises to Philips, large-format films, 16:9 will be adapted for viewing on Cinema 21:9 LCD TV, however, until the Dutch company did not become to go into details.
