ARM to try to force Intel

Apparently, the Intel will soon be quite a serious competitor in the market Netbook - a British company ARM Holdings. In fact, the company is well known throughout the world due to its low-voltage processors that are used in many smartphones and other mobile devices. Now, ARM wants to try to force Intel to market ultrathin laptops, which is known to be dominated by core Atom.

As reported by ZDNet, a British company recently demonstrated the first prototypes of such systems in the mobile processor Freescale iMX515 and Qualcomm Snapdragon. According to the ARM, such chips could easily handle HD video at 720p resolution of the clock frequency at 1 Hz. Moreover, the British felt that it would be better if they will work it on Linux, to compete with processors x86.

Apparently, not chosen by chance ARM Linux Ubuntu. The point is that the British company is actively collaborating with Canonical to develop a special version of the operating system that will support processors ARM. In addition, Adobe will also release a special plug-in Flash 10 for systems based on ARM. It is expected that the version of Ubuntu for such systems will be ready by April, and by that time, most likely we will get the first data on the performance Netbook, built on a platform of ARM. If everything goes according to plan, they will go on sale in June at a cost of $ 250.
