Cyborg Beetle radio

University of Berkeley and beetles DARPA created electronically controlled

The sympathetic rhinoceros beetle (Orictes nasicornis) has unwittingly become the star of this sci-fi story in which researchers from the University of Berkeley have managed to control the movements of these beetles through a chip with 6 electrodes connected to the brain and motor muscles.

These arthropods cyborg bear on its shell electronic circuit of 1.3 grams and can be up to 3 maximum charge, it is estimated that in a future plan to add sensors that allow these animals to use as ... eyes, noses and ears remote. As logical DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency), which is the R & D department of the U.S. Army, is already thinking about military applications. This dog lives with remote control and many utilities, as well as edible were revealed in 2009 MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) and works well without the need for training listen.
