PlayStation 3 will get 45 nm processor by summer

If nothing changes, by the middle of this year, Sony will release the first PlayStation 3 game consoles with a 45 nm Cell processor from Toshiba, the President of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe David Reeves (David Reeves) in an interview with a correspondent for British newspaper The Guardian. We remind you that all current versions of PS3 Cell processor from the same Toshiba, but the chip is manufactured on 65 nm technological processes.

Certainly, the transition to a more subtle process of technological boost processor performance, and conversely, significantly reduce its consumption, and as a result of an updated version of PS is not only compact, but powerful and previous versions.

It should be noted that in September last year, Toshiba announced that mass production of 45 nm Cell will begin in early 2009. Apparently, all of the Japanese company has gone according to plan, time Sony announced that PS3 will get a new processor by the end of the year. By the way, the 45 nm Cell also is used in TVs, Toshiba.
