Core i5 get two Socket?

Fresh pictures of the newest processors on Nehalem architecture of Intel once again appeared on the Internet. This is a series of Core i5, which is designed for use in desktop systems, mainstream (for mass of users). If the Core i7 Bloomfield everything is clear, from the Core i5 situation still remains in question. Until recently, we all thought that all the models in this series will support Socket LGA 1166, but now it turned out that Intel has prepared for them just two Socket - LGA 1155 and LGA 1156, writes the Tech Connect Magazine.

According to recent data, unlike the Core i7 processors this will not support the 3 - and 2-channel DDR3 memory and PCI Express. In addition, they can not boast of fast system bus QPI (QuickPath Interconnect). With regard to embedded memory controller, the Core i5 it is, but as we already wrote above, refers only to support 2-channel memory DDR3.

What Intel has developed two Socket'a for Core i5, gonlandsky portal never explained. But for the Xeon processors the company has developed another Socket - LS (LGA 1567). They say that the first processors with the Socket'om appear very soon. As you already guessed, they are intended for use in high-performance server systems and workstations.
